You Have Permission to Pivot: Finish Strong Friday

You Have Permission to Pivot: Finish Strong Friday – As we step into a new year, one of the biggest questions I am hearing from clients is this: Is it okay to change? Is it okay to pivot?

If that word feels a little heavy, you’re not alone. During COVID, “pivot” was everywhere. It was overused, overexplained, and for some people, it became exhausting. But here’s the truth. Pivoting is not a failure. It’s leadership.

And in today’s market, it may be essential.

The Reality Many Business Owners Are Facing

2025 was a hard year for many of our clients. Some struggled financially. Some struggled with team capacity. Many were asked to do more with less.

And now, with the rapid growth of AI and shifts in how people search, buy, and engage, the marketplace is changing faster than ever. Pretending it isn’t happening does not protect your business. Paying attention does.

One of the best pieces of business advice I ever received came from Pat Howlett at Inside 919 nearly 20 years ago. He said something that has stayed with me ever since:

The market will dictate where you go.

That statement is more relevant today than ever.

Changing Direction Is Not Giving Up

Just this past week, I found myself telling multiple clients the same thing. You have permission to pivot.

Sometimes that pivot looks like adjusting your marketing strategy. Sometimes it means reevaluating your team structure. Sometimes it means changing goals that no longer align with where your business truly needs to go.

I’ll never forget listening to Gary Vaynerchuk say that sometimes in business, you simply have to change your mind. That stuck with me. Leaders are allowed to learn. Leaders are allowed to adjust. Leaders are allowed to make new decisions based on new information.

Pivoting is not quitting. Pivoting is responding wisely.

What Pivoting Can Look Like

Pivoting does not have to be dramatic. It can be thoughtful and strategic.

It can look like:

  • Shifting to a marketing approach that actually supports your growth
  • Building a team that aligns with where you are now, not where you were
  • Setting goals that reflect today’s market realities, not last year’s assumptions

The key is this. Pivot with intention, not panic.

From Invisible to Visible

At Marketing Angel, our work is centered on helping businesses navigate these changes. We help companies go from invisible to visible through organic marketing, SEO, and AI-informed strategies.

Our passion is serving attorneys, professional service firms, and white-collar business owners who want:

  • Real results
  • Real revenue
  • Real relationships

And a strategy that makes sense for where the market is going, not where it used to be.

Finish Strong This Week: Give Yourself Permission to Pivot

As you wrap up this week, I encourage you to reflect honestly.

Where might you need to pivot? What decision have you been avoiding because it feels uncomfortable? What would forward momentum look like if you gave yourself permission to change?

You are not behind. You are responding.

And sometimes, that is the strongest move you can make.
