Prepare for the Next Meeting – Hey friends, it’s Angel with another episode of Finish Strong Friday, and this week’s encouragement is one that’s made a major difference for me and my team: End your meetings by preparing for the next one.
This one came from Melissa on my team (credit where it’s due 🙌), and it’s been an absolute time-saver—not just for me, but for the quality of our client experience.
Here’s what it looks like to prepare for the next meeting :
At the end of every client meeting, we:
✅ Use Fathom to record and summarize the call
✅ Pull the action items directly from the transcript
✅ Refine them to match our client’s goals
✅ Enter them into Asana (our CRM)
✅ Assign them to the right team member—immediately
Some of our clients use Zoom notes, others plug summaries into ChatGPT to generate task lists. The tool doesn’t matter as much as this:
🎯 Are you capturing and acting on the momentum of the meeting, right when it ends?
Why This One Habit Is a Game-Changer
- It’s fresh. Right after a meeting, the priorities are clear and the details are sharp.
- It protects momentum. Waiting means details get lost and tasks get pushed.
- It sets you up to show up in excellence. The next meeting is easier, smoother, and more productive when the prep work is already done.
We believe meetings matter. Clients matter. And showing up prepared matters too.
Your Finish Strong Friday Challenge
As you wrap up your next meeting, don’t just close Zoom and move on.
✅ Pause
✅ Capture action items
✅ Assign next steps
Make it a habit—and you’ll start every next meeting already ahead.
