Follow Your Gut | I recently had a conversation with a client. She said something simple, but powerful: “I wish I had just followed my gut.”
So I asked her to tell me more. I wasn’t sure if she meant in life or business. It turned out to be a business decision.
Now, to respect confidentiality, I’m sharing this in a generalized way. But the lesson is what matters.
The Decision That Didn’t Sit Right
She was choosing between two systems for her business. Let’s say it was Asana or Monday.com.
In her gut, she knew what she wanted. She had already researched it. She had a quote. She trusted it.
But colleagues she respected were recommending something else. And she listened.
She went against her instinct.
And to put it simply, it did not go well.
The Real Question Behind Every Decision
When we talked through it, I asked her a few questions:
- How is the client being served?
- What are you learning from this?
- What is the bottom line?
Her answer was clear.
She said, “The biggest lesson I learned is to follow my gut so I can better serve my clients and myself.”
That was the moment everything clicked. recently had a conversation with a client. She said something simple, but powerful: “I wish I had just followed my gut.”

Why Your Gut Matters in Business
We gather input. We listen to advice. We look at what others are doing. And there is value in all of that.
But there is also something inside you that already knows.
Your experience. Your intuition. Your understanding of your clients.
When you ignore that, things tend to get complicated quickly.
Following your gut is not about being impulsive. It is about being aligned.
Aligned with your business. Aligned with your values. Aligned with the people you are called to serve.
Reputation Is Built on Alignment
At the end of the day, people work with people they know, like, and trust.
That trust is built when your decisions reflect who you are and how you serve.
When you second-guess yourself or make decisions that don’t align, it shows. Not always immediately, but over time.
And your reputation is too important to ignore that.
A Question Worth Asking
Take a moment and think about your own business.
Where are you ignoring your instincts?
Is there a decision you’ve been sitting on? Is there a direction you know is right, but you’ve been hesitant to act on?
What would change if you trusted yourself?
